Application - Senior Machine Learning Engineer

Skywalk is looking for a full-time Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join our crew!

Position Overview: We are seeking a talented Senior Machine Learning Engineer with a deep understanding of machine learning techniques and a passion for developing groundbreaking wearable technologies. In this role, you will lead the design, development, and deployment of machine learning algorithms that power our wearable devices, enabling low-latency and high degree-of-freedom control of digital systems. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including hardware engineers, software engineers, data scientists, and product managers to create a seamless and intuitive user experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the end-to-end development of machine learning algorithms for wearable devices, including data collection, preprocessing, model training, validation, and deployment.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement the data collection strategies required to gather relevant sensor data from wearable devices.

  • Design and optimize machine learning models for real-time inference on resource-constrained wearable hardware and in the cloud.

  • Implement robust data pipelines and processing techniques to handle noisy and diverse sensor data streams.

  • Explore and experiment with state-of-the-art machine learning techniques to enhance the capabilities of our wearable devices.

  • Drive research initiatives to identify new opportunities for leveraging machine learning to provide value to users through wearable devices.

  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers on the team.

  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in machine learning, wearable technology, and relevant domains to ensure our products remain innovative and competitive.

Qualifications:

  • Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field with a focus on machine learning or artificial intelligence.

  • Proven track record of designing, developing, and deploying machine learning models in real-world applications, preferably in the context of wearable devices, health monitoring, or related domains.

  • Have participated in state-of-the-art ML products/projects

  • Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python and experience with machine learning libraries (PyTorch, etc.).

  • Experience with signal processing techniques and sensor data analysis, computational neuroscience background is a plus

  • Solid understanding of edge computing, optimization, and resource-efficient model deployment.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative startup environment.

  • Strong communication skills to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical team members.

Preferred:

  • In-person strongly preferred

  • Publications or contributions to the machine learning, computational neuroscience, and/or wearables research community.

  • Experience working in startup environments or fast-paced product development settings.

Compensation:

$100,000 - $200,000 a year

(Compensation is an estimate and will depend on experience & role. Compensation may also include stock options and relocation bonus)
